I’m having some bad effects with the clay during curing, and I’m learning that they’re hard to eliminate in translucent clays of most brands. The clay gets what is called “plaques”, which are little flat disc shaped occlusions in the clay that make it look cracked or flawed. Once they’re there, they’re there for good, and they’re hard to prevent. When you can get the translucent clay to work, you can get a delightful look to sculpted skin, but often the plaques show up after curing.
I have ordered several types of clay in hopes of finding a solution. Surely those people that make realistic baby dolls know something I need to know, right?
Anyway, here’s a little business-mind post. And if I’m perfectly honest, it probably takes an hour to make a completed face ornament once I finish its makeup, add the hanger and gift tag, and list it for sale.
When I get some completely finished I’ll ask you what you think they should be worth and I’ll tell you how much it costs me to make them.
